Known for his role as Jack Bauer in 24, the Canadian-British actor Kiefer Sutherlanda was arrested on Sunday night into Monday in Los Angeles following an altercation with a ride-hailing driver, police said on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
According to authorities, the intervention was triggered shortly after midnight following a report of an assault. On the scene, law enforcement found that Sutherland, 59, had physically assaulted the driver and threatened him, resulting in his immediate arrest. The driver did not require medical treatment. The exact circumstances remain unclear and are the subject of an ongoing investigation.
The actor was released a few hours later on bail of $50,000 and will have to appear in court on February 2, 2026. Sutherland’s representatives have not commented on the case. A star of both the small and big screen, Kiefer Sutherland, son of Donald Sutherland, remains an iconic figure in cinema and television, but this legal case tarnishes his career between cinema and television series.
