But the event is already at the center of intense controversy in Spain, with certain aspects of the evening sparking debate in the country. According to information from the daily AS, the party allegedly included the presence of people affected by dwarfism, hired for entertainment purposes.
This decision has sparked outrage from the Spanish Association of People Affected by Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasias, which condemned the discriminatory practice and announced its intention to pursue legal and media action against the Spanish international.
“The Association strongly condemns the use of people affected by dwarfism as entertainment elements in the celebration of Lamine Yamal, and will take legal and public actions “, stated an official press release relayed by AS. To date, neither the player nor FC Barcelona have publicly responded to the controversy.
On the field, however, Yamal is coming off a brilliant season with the blaugrana jersey.
