René Pleven Stadium Reconstruction: The project enters active phase
The Beninese government continues its ambition to provide the country with modern sports facilities that are accessible to young people and suitable for both amateur and professional sports practice. One of the priority projects is the reconstruction of the René Pleven stadium in Cotonou.

The project includes several large-scale developments. The main football field will be completely redone with 45 mm synthetic grass, in compliance with the FIFA Quality Pro standard. A dirt training field will also be developed, as well as courts dedicated to handball, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. All of these will have a polyurethane type sports floor covering, suitable for intensive practice.
In addition to the playing surfaces, significant work is planned to refurbish the stands, fencing, guard booths, and associated buildings. The project also includes a canopy with signage, a swimming pool, access and service roads (VRD), landscaping, a water tower, and a drilling.
The relevant ministers are instructed to expedite the signing of the contract with the selected company and to ensure rigorous monitoring of the construction site, in order to guarantee the completion of the work within the specified deadlines.
This project is part of a dynamic to modernize Benin’s sports facilities, in line with the stated ambitions in terms of youth training and professionalization of sport.
