Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing to return to the United Kingdom.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle could soon find a routine closer to the UK. The couple plans to spend more time there with Archie and Lilibet, whose school year is expected to begin in September. Having settled in California since 2020, the Sussexes have gradually built their life away from the official duties of the British monarchy.

However, their return does not mean a resumption of their royal duties. Harry and Meghan remain members of the royal family but no longer officially represent the Crown and do not participate in public engagements on its behalf.

A departure that made history

In January 2020, the couple announced their decision to step back from their roles as active members of the royal family. Harry and Meghan explained that they wanted to gain financial independence and preserve their privacy after several years of intense media exposure. A few months later, they officially stepped down from their positions before relocating to the United States.

Since then, their relationships with the royal family have experienced periods of tension, while the couple has taken on numerous media and professional projects. This gradual return to the United Kingdom could, however, mark a new chapter in the lives of the Sussexes, now parents of two children.
