Pep Guardiola: “The title is no longer in Manchester City’s hands”
Held to a 3-3 draw by Everton, Manchester City’s title hopes in the Premier League have taken a hit. Pep Guardiola acknowledges that his team now depends on Arsenal slipping up.

After the dramatic 3-3 draw with Everton, Pep Guardiola acknowledged that Manchester City no longer had a handle on the race for the Premier League title. Clear-eyed in the press conference, the Catalan manager admitted that this result, though better than a defeat, seriously complicates his team’s ambitions. “It’s better than a defeat. We played to win; the team showed what it’s capable of.”, he explained, while regretting that they no longer control their own fate.
“It’s no longer in our hands. Before, yes, but not anymore.” he continued, clearly implying that Arsenal, the current leaders, have all the cards in hand to clinch the title if they win their remaining matches. Guardiola, however, urged his players to stay focused until the end: “We must win our four remaining matches. The next one, against Brentford FC, will be just as demanding. We’ll see.” As the sprint to the finish approaches, Manchester City remain under pressure, hanging on Arsenal’s results in a title race more undecided than ever.
