Transfer: Sofiane Boufal joins Al-Ittihad Tripoli in Libya

The transfer comes after a brief stint at Le Havre, which he joined in January 2026. Boufal made 17 appearances there, scoring one goal and providing four assists, before his contract ended at the conclusion of the season.

The Atlas Lion arrives in Tripoli with extensive experience gained in France, England, Spain, Belgium, and Qatar. He has notably played for Angers, Lille, Southampton, Celta Vigo, Al-Rayyan, and Union Saint-Gilloise.

This move allows him to experience a club league in Africa for the first time. Boufal had previously played only in Europe and Qatar while representing Morocco at the international level.

With the Atlas Lions, he was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, marking a first for an African and Arab team. However, he was not included in the Moroccan squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Al-Ittihad Tripoli officially announced his arrival in a video shared on their social media, introducing Sofiane Boufal as their new signing for the current season.
