Patrice Talon appears before deputies for his final State of the Nation address
The President of the Republic, Patrice Talon, will face the deputies of the National Assembly tomorrow, Tuesday, 23 December 2025, to deliver his final State of the Nation address.

This constitutional exercise takes place in an especially sensitive political and institutional context, marked by the recent foiled coup attempt and the enactment of the new Constitution.
In accordance with republican customs, the head of state will review the government’s actions over the past year, while outlining the country’s major economic, social and institutional directions.
This address will also be an opportunity for Patrice Talon to look back on the reforms initiated since he came to power in 2016.
This speech carries particular significance. It is President Talon’s last State of the Nation address before the national legislature, as his second term comes to an end.
Several structural reforms, particularly institutional, economic and infrastructural ones, are expected to be highlighted, as well as the security and political challenges facing Benin.
The head of state’s intervention is expected in a climate marked by questions about the country’s political future, the consolidation of institutions and the preparation for upcoming elections.
Beyond the review, this message could thus set the final milestones of the vision Patrice Talon wishes to leave for the future of Benin’s democratic process.
