The accident, involving a heavy-duty truck and a motorcycle-taxi (zemidjan) driver, resulted in the latter’s sudden death.

According to consistent eyewitness accounts gathered on the scene, the truck driver had been travelling at excessive speed since the Mathieu Kérékou junction. On reaching the Hubert Maga junction, the driver reportedly maintained his speed without slowing down, striking the motorcycle-taxi driver head-on as he was riding home after his workday.

The force of the impact left the victim no chance; he succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. In the aftermath of the tragedy, the truck driver fled, abandoning the victim behind him.
