Parakou: man accidentally shot

An unusual incident occurred on Saturday night in Parakou. A hunter from the Tourou neighborhood in the city’s first district accidentally discharged his homemade rifle while passing near the Albarika motor park.

The unintended shot injured a man who was nearby. The victim, wounded notably in the foot, was quickly assisted and transported to the hospital by firefighters dispatched to the scene.

According to witnesses, the accident happened after the hunter, who was riding a Bajaj motorcycle, hit a speed bump hard at the entrance of the bus station. The impact allegedly triggered the weapon, resulting in the passerby’s injury.
