Parakou: 5 people arrested during a crackdown on ghettos

In Parakou, a police operation led to the arrest of five individuals in possession of psychotropic substances. The intervention is part of a series of actions aimed at containing the resurgence of violence and drug trafficking in certain neighborhoods of the city.

A team from the Parakou Central Police Station carried out, on the evening of Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the arrest of five people in a city ghetto. The operation was conducted under the direction of Central Commissioner Alexandre Akouegnon. According to police sources, the individuals arrested were in possession of psychotropic substances.

The intervention follows information indicating acts of vandalism involving two rival groups in the area. According to the same sources, the two camps were on the scene to celebrate an amicable settlement when law enforcement launched the operation.

On Sunday, March 8, a presumed receiver of stolen goods had already been arrested in the Titirou neighborhood. On the same day, an individual suspected of selling psychotropic products was arrested in the Dépôt neighborhood.

The individuals arrested during these various operations are expected to be presented in the coming days to the competent judicial authorities in order to answer for the charges against them.
