Overtime Payment: the government clarifies eligibility criteria
In Benin, the Ministry of Secondary, Technical, and Vocational Training (Mestfp) has provided details on the treatment and payment process for overtime compensation in public establishments.

In a letter addressed to the Department Directors, dated June 23, 2025, and signed by the General Secretary of the ministry, Cyrille Aïnamon, it is clearly established that only certain categories of staff are eligible for such compensation.
According to the note, those who can benefit from overtime are: teachers in teaching situations; teachers appointed as account managers and also working as teachers; teachers holding administrative and pedagogical responsibility positions in a school, particularly Principals, Heads of Studies, Assistant Heads of Studies, Supervisors, and Assistant Supervisors.
This clarification aims to harmonize compensation practices and prevent abuses in the management of public resources.
