Nuclear: Donald Trump hardens his tone toward Iran
From the White House, Donald Trump reaffirmed that no agreement would be possible with Tehran without Tehran’s total abandonment of its nuclear ambitions, while praising Washington’s pressure strategy.

Donald Trump hardened his tone toward Iran, stating that no durable agreement could be reached as long as Tehran refused to renounce any nuclear ambitions. From the Oval Office of the White House, the American president acknowledged progress in the ongoing discussions, while drawing a clear red line. The question is whether they will go far enough, he said, before adding: There will never be an agreement if they do not renounce nuclear weapons.
The occupant of the White House also praised Washington’s pressure strategy, describing the blockade targeting Iranian ports as an “effective” and “flawless” measure. In a particularly aggressive tone, Donald Trump called on Iran to capitulate unconditionally: “They should capitulate,” he said, while asserting that Iran’s military capabilities had been greatly weakened. Finally, the American president reiterated his firm stance: in his view, Iran must not obtain the nuclear weapon under any circumstances, a line he says is widely shared on the international stage.
