Nollywood: Pete Edochie cast as Papa Ngozi in ‘Bestie’
Toyin Abraham revealed on Monday, September 14, 2026, the first major name in the cast of her upcoming film, Bestie. Nollywood veteran Pete Edochie will portray Papa Ngozi, a character introduced in a short video shared by the filmmaker.

The feature film is set to hit Nigerian theaters on December 16. This announcement marks the beginning of a series of reveals dedicated to the film’s cast, with the full lineup yet to be disclosed.
The post was shared in conjunction with Pete Edochie’s account. In it, Toyin Abraham describes the actor as a Nollywood legend, without providing further details about Papa Ngozi’s role or the plot.
Bestie is part of Toyin Abraham’s year-end release series. The Nigerian director and producer previously released Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper in 2022, Malaika in 2023, and Alakada: Bad and Boujee in 2024.
Pete Edochie remains one of the most recognized figures in Nigerian cinema. His continental fame was notably built around his portrayal of Okonkwo in the television adaptation of Things Fall Apart, which aired in the late 1980s.
Toyin Abraham has yet to release the full synopsis of Bestie or the identities of the other cast members.
