Speaking to Tuttosport, Nicolas Jackson looked back on his departure from Chelsea this summer. The Senegalese striker was loaned to Bayern Munich for one season.
Loaned by Chelsea to Bayern Munich this summer, Nicolas Jackson spoke for the first time about his departure from the Blues. Dropped down the pecking order up front by Enzo Maresca, the Senegal international chose to join the Bundesliga champions on a season-long loan.
The deal almost fell through on the final day of the transfer window after Liam Delap’s injury, but a new agreement between the two clubs ultimately made the striker’s signing possible.
In an interview with TuttoSport, reported by the Mirror, Jackson shared his mixed feelings: « It was a very intense moment, but not for the reasons some might imagine. Above all, I was very happy to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the world, to discover a new league and to play alongside other great players. At the same time, I was a bit sad to leave Chelsea, my teammates and the fans. »
Grateful to Enzo Maresca, the 23-year-old added: « I have huge respect for the coach. I learned a lot from him; he has his own ideas and style. I have no regrets, only gratitude for my time at Chelsea. »
