The elected representative for the second electoral constituency is now among those taken into custody as part of the investigation opened after the foiled mutiny of Sunday, December 7, 2025.
In the aftermath of the failed coup, the Police judiciaire, in charge of the investigations, launched a series of detentions aimed at shedding light on the perpetrators, accomplices or possible supporters of this attempt to break the constitutional order.
Alongside this procedure, people who praised the coup in online posts are also being questioned. It was in this context that the parliamentarian, in turn, was taken into custody by the Police républicaine.
According to information gathered from consistent sources, Sounon Boké was reportedly taken to the Centre national d’investigations numériques (CNIN) for the needs of the investigation. At the end of his questioning, he was reportedly placed in police custody, although no official communication has yet confirmed this information.
The MP’s detention would be linked to messages circulated in a WhatsApp group on the morning of December 7. According to a screenshot provided by La Marina. BJ, the elected official reportedly posted a brief message, “It’s a party”, accompanied by an emoji expressing apparent satisfaction. One of the messages in question was later deleted by the group’s administration.
Investigators are trying to assess the meaning, context and scope of this post, which was made before the official announcement of the mutiny’s failure. They are particularly seeking to determine whether this message can be interpreted as approval, trivialization or implicit support for the attempt to destabilize institutions.
