MTV VMAs 2026: Snoop Dogg chosen to host the ceremony in Los Angeles

At 54 years old, the California rapper describes this role as a “full circle moment.” Snoop Dogg made his debut on the VMA stage in 1994 and has since received thirteen nominations and won three awards throughout his career.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS and MTV, with streaming available on Paramount+. People reports that Snoop Dogg will also participate in the executive production of this edition, alongside the show’s production team.

Leading the nominations is Madonna with eleven nods, followed by Taylor Swift with nine. Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter each have seven nominations, while Bruno Mars, PinkPantheress, and Zara Larsson have five.

Snoop Dogg is no stranger to this stage. In 1999, he closed the show alongside Dr. Dre and Eminem. He later returned to pay tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. and performed with Eminem in 2022, inspired by the metaverse.

This 2026 edition will also honor Nirvana, which has been selected to receive the Video Vanguard Award. The band joins one of the already announced highlights of a ceremony that aims to blend historical figures with current pop stars.

The MTV VMAs 2026 will take place on Sunday, September 27, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with broadcasts on CBS and MTV and streaming on Paramount+.
