Long courted, Liverpool winger Victor Osimhen is now in talks with Al Ittihad, who are ready to pull off a big coup to compensate for its recent high-profile departures.

Saudi Arabia has never stopped watching Mohamed Salah. A major figure in world football and an icon for millions of fans, the Egyptian winger has long resisted the Gulf’s sirens, preferring to extend his adventure with Liverpool. Following a 2024-2025 season that was still prolific on an individual level, the Pharaoh even secured one final extension, convinced he could continue his story with the Reds.

But this season has marked a turning point. Liverpool’s collective struggles, combined with a waning influence of his No. 11, have sparked tensions. In December, Mohamed Salah publicly let his annoyance show after several of his coach’s decisions, notably his intermittent use. An episode that rekindled departure rumors, before the Africa Cup of Nations provided a welcome breath. Returning from the continental competition, the Egyptian had regained his smile and his place in the starting XI.

That said, the page isn’t fully turned. Behind the scenes, talks are advancing. According to information relayed by Footmercato, the player’s entourage is now engaging with Al Ittihad, determined to pull off a big coup. Unlike previous attempts, Salah would this time be much more receptive to a transfer to the Saudi Pro League. A move that could please all parties: Liverpool would receive a sizeable fee, while the final decision would lie with the player.

The Djeddah club is indeed looking to reinvent itself after the departure of its marquee players. Karim Benzema joined Al Hilal, N’Golo Kanté headed to Fenerbahçe, Fabinho is arriving on a free transfer as his contract ends, and Moussa Diaby’s future is uncertain. In this context, the arrival of Mohamed Salah would represent much more than a prestige signing: a strong symbol to relaunch Al Ittihad’s sporting ambition and to cement its status among the giants of the Saudi league.
