​This bilateral hearing according to The 4 Truths is part of regular consultations between the armed forces of the two nations, in a West African security context marked by the persistence of transnational threats.

The discussions focused on strengthening the bilateral military partnership, responding to regional security challenges and taking stock of programs carried out with the assistance of the American Africa Command (AFRICOM).

​During the discussions, General Christopher J. Mahoney praised the dynamic of cooperation with Benin, while emphasizing the importance of security assistance and joint initiatives deployed via AFRICOM.

​Faced with the challenges of instability in the sub-region, the two senior officials reaffirmed the need to continue and deepen common efforts.
