UPMB has a new president. Following its elective general meeting held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at the Bourse du Travail de Cotonou, journalist Hervé Prudence Hessou was elected to head the organization.
A former vice-president of the outgoing board, Hessou succeeds Zakiath Latoundji, who had just completed their term. He is well known in Benin’s media circles, notably for his work as head of the newspaper Notre Époque and his role as deputy coordinator of Café Médias Plus.
His election marks the start of a new cycle for UPMB. The new board’s term is expected to be focused on professionalizing the sector, defending journalists’ interests, and improving the conditions for practicing the profession in Benin.
