Champions League: the 36 teams for the league phase are known

The 36 clubs taking part in the Champions League league phase for 2026-2027 are now confirmed. The draw, scheduled for Thursday, will determine the composition of the different groups in the competition. The field was completed on Wednesday night after the final playoff matches. In total, 29 teams had already secured direct qualification, while the last seven places were awarded after the preliminary rounds.

The main European heavyweights will all be there. Pot 1 will notably include Paris Saint-Germain, the defending champions, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Under this new 36-team format, each side will play a league phase before the knockout rounds. Thursday’s draw will officially launch this new European campaign, with several highly anticipated fixtures already on the horizon.

The qualified clubs now know their standing and their pot before discovering their opponents. The suspense will therefore end on Thursday with the draw for the 2026-2027 edition.
