Jason Derulo: “I never thought I’d be single at 37.”
In an interview given to the American press, Jason Derulo revisited his relationship with marriage, shaped by his personal experiences and the breakups observed around him, which gradually shook his certainties about commitment.

The American singer Jason Derulo opened up about his relationship with marriage, admitting he never imagined he would still be single at 37. In an interview with Graham Bensinger, the performer of “Don’t Wanna Go Home” revisited how his perception of commitment has evolved, shaped by his personal experiences. The artist explained that he had long envisioned marriage with several of his former partners, before seeing his certainties erode over time. “I thought I would marry many of the women I dated. I never would have imagined, even in a dream, ending up single at 37”, he admitted.
Marked by numerous breakups observed in his circle, Jason Derulo acknowledges that these situations have fed a certain apprehension toward commitment: “I’ve seen too much. Relationships that break apart abruptly, couples that tear each other apart… That made me think.” On a personal level, the singer notably shared a highly publicized relationship with Jordin Sparks, before their split in 2014 after three years together. More recently, he became a father in 2021 with Jena Frumes, with whom he separated only a few months after the birth of their child.
