The FC Barcelona young prodigy, Lamine Yamal, has officially signed a new contract binding him to the Catalan club until 2031. For the occasion, the Spanish international was handed the legendary number 10, previously worn by Lionel Messi.
During a ceremony hosted in the presence of President Joan Laporta, the 18-year-old player expressed his emotion and pride upon receiving the iconic shirt.
“Messi paved the way with number 10, and now, it’s my turn”, he declared, acutely aware of the symbolic weight of this number at Camp Nou.
Yamal, often described as one of the most promising talents in European football, also talked about the legends that shaped the club’s history: “All kids dream of having something from Messi, Ronaldinho or Maradona. I will do everything to carry on their legacy.”
And with confidence, he added: “No pressure. A new number, but the same goal.” Yamal now aims to write his own history, in the footsteps of Barça giants.
