Increase in Mobile Money transfer fees: MP Joël Godonou calls on the government

The opposition representative is asking the Executive to explain itself to the national assembly. In his official correspondence, he highlights the current economic context, considered difficult for the populace, and is concerned about the repercussions of such a measure on their purchasing power.

In the process, Joël Godonou also contacted Arcep-Bénin, the regulatory authority for electronic communications and postal services, to check if this entity was involved in adopting the pricing grid or if it was presented with a fait accompli. This clarification is crucial, at a time when responsibilities seem to be dissipating.

For now, the National Assembly is waiting for clear answers from the President’s representatives. In a social context marked by growing precariousness, this price increase, however minimal it may be for some, becomes a symbol of disconnect between decision-makers and field realities.
