Identity theft: a woman imprisoned for fraud in the name of Claudine Prudencio
A woman pretending to be a relative of Claudine Prudencio, the President of the National Rally (RN) party, was taken into custody on the night of July 8, 2025. She was brought before the public prosecutor at the Cotonou court of first instance.

According to initial information, the woman in question is part of a network that contacted several people claiming fictitious links with the RN’s president. She allegedly offered them appointments to positions of responsibility in exchange for sums of money transferred via mobile money.
On June 12, 2025, Claudine Prudencio responded through an official statement. She denounced a series of identity thefts, explaining that ill-intentioned individuals were approaching citizens, public figures, and even judicial authorities, using her name to extract money from them in exchange for false promises of appointments.
The investigation continues. Judicial authorities are currently working to identify and arrest any accomplices in this identity theft scam.
