Guinea: Kissidougou accident death toll rises to 12, including the bride

The vehicle was carrying people returning from a wedding held in Banian. It reportedly veered off the road after losing control and fell into a ditch near a bridge. Several occupants were trapped inside.

Among the victims is the young bride, according to the updated toll reported by local press. The groom and the driver are said to have survived.

A revised toll

Civil Protection rescue teams worked for several hours at the scene to recover the victims. The bodies were transferred to the Kissidougou prefectural hospital.

The exact circumstances of the accident remain to be established. Initial information suggests that a hole in the roadway may have caused the vehicle to lose control.
