Glazoué: collapse of the Lifo bridge in Aklampa, two people narrowly rescued

The Lifo bridge suddenly gave way as a motorcycle taxi was crossing, plunging the driver and his passenger, an octogenarian woman, into the watercourse.

Quickly alerted, emergency services intervened at the scene of the tragedy. The motorcyclist was pulled out around 1:45 a.m., followed by the septuagenarian around 2 a.m.

The two victims were immediately evacuated to a health center to receive emergency care.

This collapse rekindles the concern and anger of Aklampa residents. Regularly used by the local population, the structure showed significant signs of deterioration repeatedly reported by users, who had raised the alarm to demand rehabilitation work before such a tragedy occurred.
