Gabon: A new government sworn in to boost efficiency (list)

The President of the Transition in Gabon, Brice Oligui Nguema, has formed a government of 31 ministers, Gabonese authorities announced.
This announcement comes a few months after the presidential election and is part of the reshaping of the executive during the transition.
The composition of the government, unveiled yesterday, reflects the new authorities’ desire to consolidate national governance and to respond to the population’s social and economic expectations.
The new team includes ministers in charge of key sectors such as the Economy, Finance, National Education, Health, Justice, and Security. Priority portfolios have also been allocated to those responsible for guiding institutional and administrative reforms, deemed essential for the stability and future of Gabon.
The formation of this government comes after a period of political uncertainty marked by tensions between the executive and local political forces. Brice Oligui Nguema had been brought to the head of state in a particular context, and the formation of this ministerial team must, according to its supporters, mark a strong step toward the stabilization of the country.
Political observers believe that the appointment of this 31-member expanded cabinet signals a commitment to inclusion, but that it must quickly translate into concrete actions to address the socio-economic challenges facing Gabon, particularly in terms of employment, infrastructure and rural development.
