Paris Saint-Germain doesn’t have time to linger on its heavy defeat inflicted in Majorca (0-3). Just a few days after this first preparation match, the capital club is back on the pitch for a meeting of a completely different standing. The Parisians face Manchester United this Saturday in Gothenburg, Sweden, aiming to gradually build momentum ahead of the first major official event of the season.

This match serves as the final rehearsal for PSG before the UEFA Super Cup, scheduled for next Wednesday against Aston Villa. However, Luis Enrique will have to manage with a still incomplete squad, as several international players have not yet returned after their participation in the World Cup.

Several key players return

The Spanish coach can nonetheless count on the return of several important elements. Portuguese players Vitinha, João Neves, and Nuno Mendes have notably rejoined the Parisian squad, along with captain Marquinhos. Their presence should give the Asturian coach a bit more experience for this second preparation meeting.

On the other hand, Maghnes Akliouche will not take part in this match. The new Parisian recruit, who was initially supposed to travel, has stayed in Paris.

To complete his squad, Luis Enrique has called up several young players. Boly, Idder, Drame, Ibrahim Mbaye, Willian Pacho, Koukaba, Bourdin, Lucea, Meite, Ayari, and El Nay are thus among the players selected to face the Red Devils.

The World Cup players returning soon

PSG will also be able to recover several of its key players as early as Monday. Achraf Hakimi, Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola, Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Ferland Mendy, and Fabián Ruiz are expected at the PSG Campus in Poissy to resume training.

In Gothenburg, the stakes will be as much athletic as they are physical. Against Manchester United, the Parisians will mainly seek to regain their rhythm and draw early lessons before their European clash against Aston Villa. Following the setback in Majorca, a reaction is now expected.
