Benin now knows its roadmap to the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled in Morocco. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) carried out, this Saturday, January 10, the draw for the Africa qualifiers. Eliminated in the last round of the previous edition, the Amazones U17 will have to start again from the first round this time. To enter the competition, the young Beninese women will face Burkina Faso in a two-leg tie scheduled between 10 and 19 April 2026. The return leg will be played in Benin, a non-negligible advantage in hopes of overcoming this first hurdle.
Should they qualify, the Amazones will continue their campaign in the second round against the winner of the tie between Sierra Leone and Côte d’Ivoire. This decisive stage will be played between May 22 and May 31, 2026, with a place in the final round in sight. The third and final round, the last step before the World Cup, looks particularly challenging. Benin could come up against the winner of the clashes involving Niger or Guinea, as well as Nigeria, the continental benchmark in youth categories. The matches in this round are scheduled between July 3 and July 12, 2026.
