FIFA Day March 2026: Nigeria foils Iran’s ‘ballistic missiles’.
Led by Moses Simon and Akor Adams, Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated Iran (2-1) this Friday in Turkey (2-1) and are kicking off their international friendly tournament perfectly.

Nigeria dominated Iran (2-1) this Friday afternoon in Antalya, Turkey, as part of the March 2026 FIFA day. Despite notable absences of Victor Osimhen and Stanley Nwabali, head coach Eric Chelle had fielded a competitive lineup. A choice quickly validated on the field.
In the 6th minute, Moses Simon set his side in motion, finishing off an incisive burst with cool-headed composure. After the break, the Super Eagles extended their lead thanks to Akor Adams, well served after a remarkable build-up by Ademola Lookman. Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi then reduced the gap for Iran, without reversing the momentum of the match.
This victory gives Nigeria an ideal start to its international break, in the context of a friendly tournament also featuring Jordan and Costa Rica. The Super Eagles will face Jordan on Tuesday.
