On is complementing this signing with the appointment of Thierry Henry as its football director. The former French striker will be involved in developing the new division, its products, and athlete relations. The brand has also brought in Swiss international Sydney Schertenleib from FC Barcelona to its football project.

The Swiss equipment manufacturer plans to launch its first football boots in 2027. The company, in which Roger Federer has invested, has primarily established itself in running before expanding into tennis and now tackling the football market.

In its statement, On presents Mbappé as a partner expected to contribute directly to product design. The first football boots from this new division are set to be released in 2027.
