The announcement was made at the end of the 146th regular session of its Board of Directors, held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
This funding will support the construction and equipment of new high schools in the municipalities of Cotonou, Abomey-Calavi and Djakotomey. The aim is twofold: to increase the supply of school infrastructure and strengthen the teaching capacities of the Beninese education system.
According to sources close to the bank, this phase of the project will also include skills enhancement for 500 teachers, as well as training for 20 pedagogical inspectors. An approach that is part of a logic of increased professionalization of technical and professional teaching in Benin.
This partnership is in line with the BOAD’s continued commitments to developing human capital in the WAEMU space. It also underscores the Beninese government’s commitment to continuing its investments in education, a key driver of the country’s economic transformation.
