CRIET: Thibaut Ogou pleads not guilty to attempted fraud and remains in custody.

The accused, who is being prosecuted for attempted fraud against a prisoner, has denied all charges and pleaded not guilty.

At the hearing, the activist, who is representing himself, explained that he had been contacted by an inmate who asked him to publicize information about the inmate’s conditions of detention. Thibaut Ogou stated that he had forwarded a screenshot of an exchange with the Minister of Justice to demonstrate that the authorities were aware of the inmate’s concerns. The inmate involved, who was present at the hearing, confirmed that he had not received any financial requests from the defendant.

Following the deliberations, the court ordered that Thibaut Ogou and his three co-defendants remain in detention, rejecting his request for provisional release, which he had made for family reasons. The case has been adjourned until September 10, 2026, for the prosecution’s closing arguments.
