Having been absent in the three group matches due to severe gastroenteritis, Kylian Mbappé may play his first match in the FIFA Club World Cup taking place in the United States this Tuesday. The French striker is expected to be in the Real Madrid squad taking on Juventus this evening in the round of 16.
At the press conference on Monday, the Merengue coach, Xabi Alonso, was optimistic about his striker’s condition. “We will discuss with him tomorrow morning to make the final decision,” Alonso told reporters. “It is very likely that he will make his debut in the competition. I don’t know to what extent, but it’s a very real possibility,” he added.
The Madrid coach also confirmed the return to form of Dani Carvajal and Éder Militão, thus strengthening his defensive line before this clash against the Bianconeri.
Real Madrid, strong since the start of the tournament, remains unbeaten with two victories and a draw. The inclusion of Mbappé could offer a decisive advantage as things start to heat up.
