The draw for the Champions League playoff rounds and the Round of 16 has delivered its verdict. Among the most eagerly anticipated fixtures is the Benfica–Real Madrid clash, which promises an explosive confrontation.
The two sides had already met on the final matchday of the group stage. Benfica won 4-2 at home against the Madrid side. A decisive victory that allowed the Lisbon club to clinch qualification for the playoffs, while denying Real Madrid a direct ticket to the Round of 16.
As a reminder, the clubs were drawn according to their ranking at the end of the group stage. Teams ranked 9th to 16th formed the seeded teams, while those ranked 17th to 24th were among the non-seeded. The playoff matches will be played on February 17–18 and February 24–25, while the Round of 16 will take place on March 10–11 and March 17–18.
