CAN 2027 Qualifiers: Mozambique holds Senegal to a draw in Vieira’s debut (1-1)

The Senegalese dominated the first half and took the lead in the 32nd minute. After receiving a cross from Abdallah Sima, Nicolas Jackson controlled the ball in the box before chipping it over the Mozambican goalkeeper.

Mozambique responded in stoppage time of the first half. Geny Catamo equalized with a strike from outside the box in the 45th+2 minute, sending both teams into the break at 1-1.

Senegal maintained more possession after the break but struggled to break down the opposing defense. Vieira notably introduced Ibrahim Mbaye, Idrissa Gana Gueye, and Boulaye Dia, but the score remained unchanged.
