The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Morocco, has already delivered its first batch of eliminations. At this stage of the competition, six selections have officially left the tournament. They are Botswana, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and the Comoros.
Botswana was the first country to bid farewell to the CAN, after two consecutive defeats in its opening matches. Equatorial Guinea and Gabon subsequently met the same fate, also eliminated after their first two group-stage matches.
Zambia, for its part, saw its hopes dashed after a heavy defeat (3-0) to the host nation Morocco on Monday night. As for the Comoros, they have become the first team finishing third to be eliminated; their total points no longer allows them to hope to finish among the best third-placed teams.
