CAN 2025: Burkina Faso comes from behind to beat Equatorial Guinea
With a goal by Edmond Tapsoba in stoppage time, Burkina Faso took the upper hand over Equatorial Guinea (2-1) on Wednesday in the opening match of Group E at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Burkina Faso ultimately did not fall into Equatorial Guinea’s trap. The Stallions defeated Nzalang Nacional this Wednesday, as part of the opening matchday of Group E at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. In a very lively match, the Burkinabè prevailed 2-1.
Surprised by an Equatoguinean side, reduced to ten, which opened the scoring five minutes from the end with a strike by Marvin Anieboh, Burkina Faso turned the game around in stoppage time. Georgi Minoungou equalized for his side before Edmond Tapsoba snatched the victory in the final seconds. With this victory, Burkina Faso leads Group E, awaiting the result of the other group match between Sudan and Algeria.
