CAN 2025: Benin among the teams already qualified for the Round of 16.

Thanks to their results on the final day of Group A, Morocco, the host nation, and Mali secured on Monday evening their qualification for the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The two nations join the other teams already qualified for the round of 16.

Morocco and Mali sealed on Monday evening their tickets to the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following the decisive matches of Group A. As hosts of the tournament, Morocco cruised past Zambia (3-0) in Rabat, powered by a brace from Ayoub El Kaabi and a goal from Brahim Diaz. A clear victory that allows the Atlas Lions to finish top of their group.

For its part, Mali ensured the essential in Casablanca by settling for a goalless draw (0-0) against the Comoros. Sufficient for the Eagles, who claim second place in the group and advance to the next round. Morocco and Mali thus join Nigeria, Algeria, South Africa and Egypt, already qualified for the round of 16. These knockout matches will be played from January 3 to 6, 2026.

Benin, who will face Senegal this Tuesday in Group D, will also take part in the knockout stage of the competition. Credited with 3 points after their victory over Botswana on the 2nd matchday, the Guépards are assured to finish in the worst-case scenario among the 4 best third-placed teams following the results of the 3rd matchday of Groups A and B.
