The Ministry of Industrial Development, Commerce, Crafts, and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises announced, through an official statement dated April 8, 2024, a significant measure affecting economic actors in Burkina Faso. This announcement pertains to an immediate and temporary suspension of the import of wheat flour into the national territory. This measure takes effect from the date of the signing of the statement.
Furthermore, it is specified that the issuance of a Special Import Authorization (SIA) for wheat flour is also suspended until further notice.
It is clearly stated that any infraction of this directive will be subject to sanctions applied in accordance with the prevailing laws.
“The Minister of Industrial Development, Commerce, Crafts, and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises counts on the collaboration and understanding of all the technical services of the State and the importers for the perfect execution of the terms of this statement,” the document indicates.
