Borgou: Economic and Social Council launches regional activities and nationwide tour from Parakou

This event simultaneously marks the kick-off of the national tour of the president of the institution, Abdoulaye Bio Tchané, who will travel through the twelve departments of Benin.

​The session took place in the presence of the prefect of Borgou, Abdoul Chakour Assouma, the departmental coordinator of the CES, Tamba Mariatou, the second vice-president of the institution, Pascal Essou, as well as several deputies, mayors and actors from local civil society.

​On this occasion, the president of the CES outlined the roadmap for the 8th mandate, structured around four major axes: the usefulness of the institution, proximity to populations, strengthening of interinstitutional dialogue and international influence.

“Four priorities, one ambition: to make the CES an institution that matters in the life of the Nation”, reaffirmed Abdoulaye Bio Tchané.

​The meeting also made it possible to clarify the responsibilities of the departmental divisions. The advisors’ essential mission will be to explain reforms and public decisions to citizens, while collecting their grievances and proposals in order to pass them on to the decision-making bodies.

​This orientation is part of the continuity of the reforms carried out by the organic law of 2024, which strengthened the prerogatives of the CES to make it a direct bridge between socio-professional categories, citizens and public authorities
