Borgou: Abdoul Chakour Assouma officially appointed as prefect this Monday

He succeeds Djibril Mama Cissé in this position, whose management at the head of the department was commended and who has recently been promoted within the government as the delegated minister responsible for the Interior and Public Security.

The new head of the departmental administration is a young lawyer, recognized for his brilliance within the Bar of Benin. Originally from the city of Parakou, the heart of the department, Abdoul Chakour Assouma has a thorough understanding of the socio-economic realities of Borgou and the specific challenges faced by the local youth.

This territorial anchorage represents a major asset for effectively leading his governance in the coming years and remaining an efficient operational hand for the central government in this department of the country.

The main lines of his republican mission

Installed this Monday in his functions at the departmental capital, Prefect Assouma is entrusted with strategic responsibilities for the development of his jurisdiction. He will ensure the rigorous application of the government’s general policy throughout the departmental territory, lead and harmonize the action of the various decentralized state services to ensure the effectiveness of public service, and ensure legality control and close oversight of the municipalities of Borgou, strictly respecting the laws and texts governing decentralization in Benin.
