This level represents 50.1% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), a rate that remains well below the ceiling of 70% required by the convergence criteria of UEMOA.

Public borrowing has increased by 650 billion FCFA compared to December 31, 2025, when it was at 8,472.2 billion FCFA, with an increase of 94.5 billion FCFA between March and June 2026.

This upward trend is mainly explained by the realization of 905.8 billion FCFA in disbursements in foreign currency by the end of June 2026, including 381.6 billion FCFA from multilateral donors and 478.8 billion FCFA from international issuances in January 2026.

At the same time, the State has also mobilized 86.7 billion FCFA through Treasury bond issuances on the regional UEMOA market.
