Benin: The government is launching ten new agricultural programs in the Agricultural Technical High Schools for the 2026-2027 school year.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced, in a statement dated August 18, 2026, the opening of ten new professional training programs within Agricultural Technical High Schools (LTA) for the 2026-2027 school year.

These programs, leading to the Technician Diploma (DTM), cover a wide range of strategic specialties, namely: poultry farming, rabbit farming, and unconventional livestock raising prepare students for the management of modern poultry, rabbit, and snail farms.
Cattle and small ruminant husbandry focuses on the production of milk, meat, and the processing of derived products. Pig farming trains students in modern methods of feeding, breeding, and management of livestock units. Aquaculture and fish farming prepare students for the management of hatcheries and fish farms.
In the field of plant and horticulture, the horticultural branch for food and ornamental purposes trains specialists in market gardening, nurseries, and green space development.
Cereal and legume production focuses on sustainable crops of maize, rice, soybeans, and black-eyed peas. The production of roots and tubers targets food security through cassava, yam, and sweet potato.
The production of fiber and textile plants prepares students for the cultivation and processing of cotton and natural fibers. The tree and forestry sector trains technicians in nurseries and forest management. Finally, the oil palm and coconut sector is focused on the modern management of plantations and agro-industrial processing.
Through this initiative, the Beninese state aims to strengthen the employability of young people, promote self-employment, and accelerate industrial transformation and food security in the country.
