Benin: seizure of more than 265 kg of Indian hemp in Sèmè-Kpodji
The elements of the Tohouè district police station, in the commune of Sèmè-Podji, carried out a successful operation on the night of Friday, August 28 to Saturday, August 29, 2026.
The intervention was triggered following intelligence reports of drug trafficking by sea in the area.
The vigilance of law enforcement allowed the interception of a Toyota Highlander vehicle used to load psychotropic products. As the police approached, the driver and the individuals responsible for loading the packages fled and are currently being sought.
A thorough search and weighing of the load revealed 265.24 kilograms of Indian hemp. The vehicle and the entire quantity of drugs were seized by the republican police.
Investigations are underway to determine the origin and final destination of this illicit merchandise.
