Benin — Patrice Talon’s succession: Renaud Agbodjo calls on Romuald Wadagni

Excluded from the race for the April 2026 presidential election by a decision handed down on Monday, October 27 by the Constitutional Court, Me Renaud Agbodjo takes note.

In a statement on Tuesday, October 28, 2026, he made an appeal for reconciliation to Minister of State Romuald Wadagni in case he is elected to succeed his boss, President Patrice Talon.

In this statement shared on social media, Agbodjo acknowledged Wadagni’s ability: “You are brilliant and competent,” he said.

But he didn’t stop at a compliment. He also urged the majority’s candidate to adopt a more open and inclusive stance.

“I urge you not to concentrate power and to listen to all of the country’s stakeholders before making decisions that affect all Beninese people,” he added.

Agbodjo says his message is not just about the electoral contest but also about national responsibility.

“My appeal is bigger than you or our duel; it concerns the future of our nation and how it will be governed after April 2026,” stressed Me Renaud Agbodjo.

The message comes as Les Démocrates see their candidacy challenged by the Autonomous National Electoral Commission (CENA), notably because of sponsorship deemed insufficient.
