Benin: new terrorist attack reported in the north
On Thursday, April 17, 2025, Benin recorded a new terrorist attack. According to local media outlet Bip Radio, two Beninese military positions were targeted in the Koudou Falls area, deep within the W National Park, more than 700 kilometers from Cotonou.

As of now, no official casualty report has been released. According to Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Honfoga, the army’s spokesperson contacted by La Nouvelle Tribune, the armed forces are currently conducting an air and ground sweep of the area.
Back in January 2025, several dozen soldiers lost their lives at the “Triple Point,” a border zone between Niger and Burkina Faso. That ambush remains the deadliest blow suffered by Operation Mirador since its launch in February 2022.
The position targeted in January belonged to one of the fortified bases of this 3,000-strong task force deployed to secure the northern region against terrorist threats. The attackers launched their assault with heavy weaponry before setting fire to the post. In response, the military carried out a counter-offensive combining airstrikes and ground operations, neutralizing several enemy combatants, according to security sources.
