A little over two weeks before the kickoff of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Benin’s head coach, Gernot Rohr, revealed the first list of players selected for the final tournament in Morocco.

Head coach Gernot Rohr has selected a group of 30 players for the training camp in Morocco. A final test for the Guépards before the AFCON 2025 finals, scheduled from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026. The camp will serve as a laboratory for the technical staff, tasked with assessing fitness levels, measuring team dynamics and identifying players capable of meeting the demands of an AFCON that promises to be particularly competitive.

In this preliminary squad are the usual mainstays, such as Steve Mounié, Andréas Hountondji, Yohan Roche and Mohamed Tijani. Called up for the first time during the November international break, Santos Felipe and Adam Akimey are also included on the list, as is AC Oulu (Finland) centre-back Charlemagne Azongnitodé, who earns his first call-up.

The upcoming sessions, the automatisms that develop and the group’s competitiveness will weigh heavily in Gernot Rohr’s final decision. As a reminder, the Guépards will start their tournament against the DRC on December 23.
