Benin: Death of the vlogger La Go Range Rover

Benin is in mourning. La Go Range Rover, a well-known figure on the Beninese web, passed away over the weekend at CNHU-HKM in Cotonou. The vlogger, admired for her free-spirited personality and infectious energy, was hospitalized for more than a week before succumbing to her illness.

A few days before her death, she made a cry for help from her hospital bed, which moved many netizens and sparked a wave of solidarity.

Obese but Uninhibited

La Go Range Rover made a name for herself in the Beninese social media scene with her authenticity, humor, and candid discussion about obesity. A strong and enterprising woman, she saw herself as a “mother with ten thousand fingers”, a go-getter managing multiple projects to provide for her family.

Beyond her entertaining posts, La Go Range Rover was also seen as a woman with a big heart, compassionate and deeply connected to the social realities of many Beninese people. She managed to create a loyal community that rallied several times to support her, especially during her final battle in hospital.
