Benin: At the University of Parakou, no one was admitted to the Bachelor’s 2 in Modern Letters in the regular session.
The University of Parakou has recorded a concerning new result. In the second year of Modern Literature, no student has passed the required teaching units to progress to License 3 at the end of the regular session. However, candidates will have another chance during the retake exams.

The results of the regular session for the semester 3 and 4 exams in the second year of Modern Literature at the University of Parakou are definitive. According to Nagueze, no student has obtained validation for the twelve required teaching units to be admitted to License 3.
Published on July 13, the results report shows a pass rate of 0%. This situation quickly sparked debates on social media. Several internet users mention difficulties related to the students’ level, while others point to the nature of the evaluations or the academic requirements of the department.
Nonetheless, this underperformance does not completely end the academic paths of the affected students. According to university rules, they will be able to sit for the retake session, which offers them another opportunity to validate the missing teaching units and continue their studies.
This episode occurs in a context where the results of certain programs at the University of Parakou often attract comments. The previous year, the Faculty of Law had already recorded an exceptionally low pass rate: only six students were declared admitted out of about 2,500 candidates during the relevant session.
These new results rekindle the debate on academic performance within the institution, even though the final outcome of the academic year will depend on the results of the retake session.
